Li Dong graduated from the Department of Architecture, Harbin Institute of Technology. After university, he worked in design before devoting himself to watercolour painting. He is now an Elected Member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (CSPWC). A recipient of numerous awards in major international watercolour exhibitions, he is an internationally renowned and widely admired watercolour artist.

Li Dong’s works cover a broad range of subjects and are not confined to any single theme. He paints with equal ease across urban humanity, natural landscapes, rural idylls, street scenes, crowd compositions and portraits. His painting style is passionate and unrestrained, bold yet rich in subtle details.

His art reveals a profound love for life and a warm celebration of humanity and everyday existence. He describes his style as Natural Expressionism: painting freely and expressing naturally. Through his unique artistic language, he conveys his understanding of art, communicates his thoughts on society and nature, and lays bare his inner emotions.
